What type of PDFs are supported?

Updated

In principle the PDFs we support have the following limitations:

1. They must be smaller than 10MB in size

While some signing methods, such as Swedish BankID, don't have a size limit, other signing methods do.

Therefore, the Verified platform enforces a 10MB file size limit. Files exceeding this limit cannot be uploaded.

Furthermore, BankID NO specifies a file size limit of 3MB per document, which can still present challenges for (older) mobile devices. For an optimal user experience, it's best to keep document file sizes under 1MB. Smaller file size leads to better user experience.

2. They should not be password protected or contain forms

The PDFs that should be signed through the Verified platform should be non-editable, print-ready, and not include any passwords or forms.

A simple way to ensure that the PDF is print ready is to open it in your default app, go to Print (usually Ctrl + P or Cmd + P) and see if you have the option to Print to PDF. For example:

  • In Adobe Reader you should have "Adobe PDF" as one of the printers you can choose from
  • In Microsoft Edge you should have "Save as PDF" and "Microsoft Print to PDF" as one of the printers you can choose from
  • In Safari you should have a PDF button at the bottom of the Print window
  • On Chrome you should have "Save as PDF" as one of the possible printers

3. They should adhere to page limits

The Verified platform supports a maximum of 2000 pages in total for all documents being signed in a single signing process. It's important to note that each individual document uploaded should not exceed 1000 pages.
